Job Description
    • Position Summary
    • This position’s responsibilities are carried out independently under general supervision. The incumbent is responsible for making clinical judgments regarding athletic injuries and treatment plans and performing the full range of athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency medical care for student-athletes. The position develops and administers rehabilitation programs, coordinates athletic healthcare services and training room operations, and maintains medical, injury, and insurance-related records. The incumbent provides direction and training to athletic training interns, student assistants, and less experienced athletic trainers and serves as a liaison among student-athletes, coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
    • Job Duties
    • Duties include but are not limited to:
    • Evaluates athletic injuries and illnesses and develops treatment and rehabilitation plans for student-athletes.
    • Administers therapeutic modalities, rehabilitation exercises, taping, bracing, and other injury prevention and treatment techniques.
    • Monitors rehabilitation progress and modifies treatment plans based on clinical assessment and physician recommendations.
    • Provides emergency medical coverage for practices, competitions, and special events.
    • Travels with assigned teams to provide athletic training services and injury management during competition.
    • Determines participation status and return-to-play progression in consultation with physicians and other healthcare providers.
    • Maintains medical records, injury reports, treatment documentation, insurance information, and related athletic healthcare records.
    • Coordinates physician appointments, specialist referrals, diagnostic testing, and follow-up care for student-athletes.
    • Communicates injury status, treatment plans, rehabilitation progress, and participation restrictions with coaches and healthcare providers.
    • Serves as a liaison between student-athletes, coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding athletic healthcare needs.
    • Ensures medical documentation is maintained in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements.
    • Assists in coordinating daily Sports Medicine Clinic operations, including treatment schedules, athletic training room coverage, and clinical workflows.
