Reporting to the head athletic trainer, the athletic trainer is responsible for administering quality healthcare through practice and game coverage, injury prevention, evaluation, management, treatment of new and pre-existing injuries, short & long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education and counseling of student-athletes, athletics- related health care administration and ensure compliance with NCAA legislation, the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer, and Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine. The Certified Athletic Trainer is the primary person to make decisions on the playing status of all athletes.
The Certified Athletic Trainer is accountable for the daily maintenance of the athletic training room and related equipment and supplies.

Communicates frequently, in person, over the phone, or via a computer. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communication. Regularly required to sit or stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms. Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate a computer keyboard and provide multiple sessions of manual therapy throughout the course of a day. Operates standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
The ability to move safely yet swiftly (e.g. running/jogging, walking/jogging up and down stairs or hills) when necessary is required. The ability to lift 50+ pounds and physically assist injured parties in standing, sitting, or walking is required. The ability to handle physically strenuous tasks, such as providing emergency injury management (CPR, neck/spine stabilization) for prolonged periods of time.
