Job Description

Nevada Athletics is recruiting for an Athletic Trainer or an Assistant Director, Sports Medicine.

The Athletic Trainer serves as a certified athletic trainer for student-athletes for assigned sports programs. The incumbent administers athletic training services, which may include, but are not limited to, screenings, injury assessment and treatment and individual case management of injured athletes undergoing rehabilitation. The position coordinates summer camps. Incumbent maintains a safe environment for staff and student-athletes. The Sports Medicine department medical decisions and actions are under the supervision of the team physicians.

In addition to the above duties, the Assistant Director diagnoses and treats injuries, staffs practices and events and maintains a safe environment for staff and student-athletes. The position maintains electronic medical records, primary insurance of each athlete, coordinates medical coverage needed, assists with operation of the University’s main and satellite athletic training facilities, administers drug testing, mentors graduate and undergraduate student athletic trainers, and maintains athletic training equipment. The Sports Medicine department medical decisions and actions are under the supervision of the team physicians.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and two years of related work experience; OR a Master’s Degree and one year of related work experience.
Related Experience: Managing or assisting with management of athletic training facilities at the collegiate or professional level working with men’s or women’s sports programs
