Job Description

Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota, invites applications for a full-time athletic trainer responsible for providing athletic training services to a variety of intercollegiate NAIA sports. Sport coverage will be determined based on the candidate’s strengths, the needs of the athletic training unit, and the candidate’s prior professional experience. This position will also serve as a preceptor for DWU’s CAATE accredited Master of Athletic Training program. Start date will be between July 1 and August 1, 2024.

Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold a master’s degree (strongly preferred). A bachelor’s degree along with documentation of extensive and successful professional experience may be considered.
  • Possess BOC certification and be eligible for South Dakota state licensure.
  • Prevent athletic injuries and illnesses, as well as treat and rehabilitate athletic injuries.
  • Assist with athletic sport coverage – including practices and games.
  • Approach the preceptor role in innovative ways to generate interest in the discipline in the clinical environment.
  • Utilize, or be willing to learn, the use of digital technologies to enhance engagement, learning, and clinical practice, including an electronic medical records system.
