Assist in developing and supporting a comprehensive recruitment and retention infrastructure aimed at building and maintaining a strong roster of high-quality student-athletes.
Collaborate with the head coach to cultivate and implement a recruiting plan aligned with the University's Strategic Plan. The assistant coach plays a key secondary role in identifying and developing student-athletes who will positively represent the University both on and off the field. This includes fostering a culture of community engagement and supporting initiatives that promote the University's mission and outreach efforts.

This is a part-time seasonal position.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
On Field/GameDay Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a player development plan within your area of expertise. Assist with practice planning and execution daily. Collaborate with the hitting coach to apply the team’s hitting philosophy in practices and games. Consistently throw batting practice, flip tosses, and hit fungos to both infielders and outfielders. This role also carries the responsibility of being the in-game bench coach/1B coach, which will require good communication and ability to organize charts. Help coordinate team meals during travel with staff and student managers. Maintain strong communication and relationships with players and coaching staff. May be required to drive SHU vehicles and transport students. Off Field Responsibilities:
Actively recruit during the summer (5–7 days/week) and fall (2–3 days/week), with travel across the Northeast region (NH to NJ/PA). Utilize CARA logs, manage expense reports, and contribute to scouting report development. Lead the planning and administration of SHU Baseball camps and clinics, including scheduling, registration, and logistics. Assist with the Head Coach as needed with fundraising, community service, and team-building events. Assist in developing and managing a student manager program to provide support both on and off the field throughout the season. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Attributes
Must possess a valid driver’s license with no violations and maintain a clean driving record. Experienced knowledge of the game of baseball, specifically in the areas of hitting, baserunning, catching and or outfield. Ability to hit a fungo for groundballs and flyballs as well as the capacity to throw consistent/challenging batting practice. Four to five years of playing and/or coaching experience intercollegiate level with preferred experience Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Impeccable integrity with a working knowledge of the NCAA D1 Baseball, and Metro- Atlantic Conference rules and regulations Strong administrative and organizational skills. Must possess current CPR and First Aid certification, or be able to obtain certification within a reasonable timeframe. Unusual Working Conditions
Ability to work weekends and nights as needed.
