Athletics
This position plays a key role in providing financial oversight and management of the financial operations for the Department of Athletics. Additionally, this position supports budgeting, financial reporting, and general financial operations within the department. This position ensures compliance with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), University System of Georgia (USG), and Columbus State University (CSU) policies and procedures including, but not limited to the USG Policy Manual and the USG Business Procedures Manual (BPM).
Significant Duties & Responsibilities include: Budget Management - In coordination with the Director of Athletics, develop, monitor, and manage the athletics department budget, including forecasting revenues and expenditures for all athletics teams, facilities, and programs. Ensure proper internal controls are in place for financial transactions. Assist in the management of grants, scholarships, and sponsorship funding, ensuring proper tracking and reporting in accordance with funding requirements.; Financial Reporting - Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures, NCAA regulations, and other applicable guidelines. Collaborate with the finance team in the development and monitoring of the annual budget for the department. Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring all financial practices are in accordance with USG and CSU policies and state/federal regulations.; Accounts Payable/Receivable - Provide oversight of the accounts payable and receivable functions within the athletics department, ensuring accurate tracking and timely processing of payments and receipts related to athletic events, vendor contracts, and student-athlete reimbursements. Educate coaches and student athletes about financial processes, deadlines, and policies. Conduct informational sessions or workshops to improve understanding of athletics financial and business operations.; Financial Analysis - Provide detailed financial analysis and recommendations for improving operational efficiency, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring the financial health of the athletics department. Prepare for and support internal and external audits related to student accounts and billing processes. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all financial transactions. Work closely with senior administrators, coaches, and other staff to provide financial insights and assist in the development of long-term financial strategies for the department.; Other Duties - Participate in university-wide committees related to finance, student services, or other initiatives. Stay updated on best practices in higher education finance and implement improvements to current processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.; Three to Five years of experience in financial management, accounting, or business operations.
Preferred Qualifications include: Master's degree in Business Administration or related field.; Previous experience in higher education or a similar field.; Knowledge of NCAA regulations and compliance practices related to finances.
The proposed annualized salary range for this position is $51,503 - $60,000 and includes full benefits.
