Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Plans and coordinates all aspects of team travel for away contests; develops travel itineraries; coordinates transportation, hotel arrangements, meals, practice sites/times, to meet NCAA rules and regulations. Ensures appropriate per diems are allocated to players, coaches, and others in the travel party; reconciles all travel expenses; travels with the team and manages logistics; coordinates problem resolutions. Monitors student-athlete livelihood, including on-campus housing issues, meal plans, financial aid applications and status, limitations of practice hours, class attendance, study hall hours, and per diem money during school holidays and breaks. Monitors and logs compliance forms for weekly team countable activities, as well as coaches' telephone records, permitted contacts, and evaluations of prospective student athletes. Plans, organizes, and coordinates all logistics of the summer camp program; promotes program by creating and distributing brochures; manages the budget to ensure expenses are within budget; organizes registration; oversees staff hiring; schedules facilities; and establishes daily camp schedule. Serves as liaison to athletic administration, academics, media relations, facilities management, equipment room, weight room, medical and training room staff, and other organizations. Acts on behalf of coaches, immediately addressing issues and concerns with the student-athletes, administrators, and other staff members. Contributes to Graphics creation and implementation on social media, packets, mail-outs, and flyers. Actively participates in community service, promotional, and public relations activities for the basketball program. Uses film exchange software to coordinate all film exchanges during the season; creates highlight and scouting tapes for instruction for upcoming opponents. Secures facilities on a day-to-day basis for all home and away practice times and serves as a liaison with facilities and women's basketball on scheduling. Collaborates with visiting basketball teams to coordinate scheduling of practice times and assists visiting teams with game day needs, such as pre-game meals. Hires, supervises, and evaluates team managers and ball-kids; and selects and monitors program volunteers. Coordinates the end-of-year basketball banquet, including reserving the facility, designing and ordering awards, selecting the dinner menu, creating highlight videos, and inviting special guests, boosters, and department personnel. Monitors and maintains all technological needs for staff, including laptops, projectors, computer recruiting software, including Synergy, Gamebreaker, and acts as liaison between the Factory and Basketball staff. Organizes and executes all Senior Day activities, including post-game banquet, senior gifts and photos, catering, and facility management. Plans and supervises community outreach programs. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Other Attributes
Bachelor’s degree required.
Valid driver's license with no violations required.
Two to three years of experience playing for or working with an NCAA Division 1, 2, or 3 basketball program as a team manager, graduate assistant, video coordinator, director of basketball operations, or assistant coach.
Good communication skills and a positive motivator.
Impeccable integrity with a working knowledge of the NCAA rules and regulations.
Strong administrative and organizational skills.
Unusual Working Conditions
Works outside of normally scheduled work hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as directed.
Travel is also required.
