POSITION SUMMARY:

The Athletics Leadership Intern will support the comprehensive student-athlete leadership program and initiatives surrounding the student-athlete experience.  This position will research, plan, and coordinate programming and logistics that directly support student-athlete welfare, life skills, and personal development. 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Assist with the day-to-day logistics and operations of student-athlete development 
• Research leadership strategies, programming, and development to support the new Spider Athletics Leadership Initiative
• Coordinate large-scale leadership events, award celebrations, and guest speakers
• Assist with advising the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
• Track and monitor data of post-graduation and internship plans
• Monitor support and usage of professional opportunities on campus and provide additional communications as needed
• Create a communications plan for leadership program implementation to key constituent groups
• Participate in the development and implementation of new programs and services related to leadership and student-athlete welfare
• Contribute to the overall success of the intercollegiate athletics program by willingly performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, skills & ability: 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to perform accurate, detail-oriented work.
• Ability to be independent and carry out tasks with minimal supervision.
• Must possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a commitment to integrity.
• Adherence to all applicable NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations is required.

Education & experience: 

• Bachelor’s Degree required
• 1 year of related experience

Salary Grade Level 1: $15.00 per hour

Scheduled Hours: 20 hrs per week
