Job Description Summary:
The Athletics Performance Coach (APC) will report to the Director of Athletics Performance and will work within a dynamic High-Performance team developing athletic performance programs. They will develop comprehensive athletic performance programs for collegiate athletes that address the specific physical demands for Women’s Lacrosse, Men’s Soccer, Golf Programs, and assist with Football (limited). The APC will collaborate with sports coaches to optimize player health, wellness, development, and performance. Additionally, they will operate sports performance monitoring tools and analyze performance data in accordance with departmental standards. The APC will work closely with the sports medicine staff to optimize return-to-performance plans for injured athletes.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and or experience.
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) Accreditation.
Ability to define and reverse engineer sports demands.
Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.
Basic competency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related discipline.
Knowledge and experience with athlete tracking and other monitoring systems/techniques.
Experience working with multiple sports in a collegiate (D1 (Mid Major), D2, or D3) setting.
Conditions of Employment:
This position may require additional hours beyond the typical work week, including occasional overnight and weekend work as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.
Prolonged periods of standing and sitting indoors and frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
Meet the physical requirements for the job, including the ability to participate in and lead strenuous physical activity.
CPR Certification or obtained within six months of employment.
This is a restricted position, subject to the continued availability of funding.
Maintain Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) Accreditation.
Job Duties:
70% - Athletic Performance Program Design and Implementation:
Development and execution of athletic performance programs designed to improve the physical qualities required for high performance.
Teaching and demonstration of exercise mean and methods designed to improve performance outcomes.
Diagnose game dynamics and use said information to improve the health of the athlete and mitigate the risk of injury from training and game participation.
Collaborate with the sports medicine staff to optimize return-to-performance protocols following an injury.
Scheduling and administering all training sessions for assigned sports.
20% - High-Performance Team Collaboration:
Meet with sport coaches, sports medicine and other pertinent personnel (POD group) to optimize the training process.
Engage in critical problem solving with sports medicine personnel to mitigate injury risk factors and improve return to play processes.
10% - Performance Data Analysis:
Responsible for communicating and collaborating with sports coaches, athletic trainers, and the Director of Athletic Performance.
Scheduling and administering all training sessions for assigned sports.
Posting Range: $40,000-$50,000 commensurate with experience.
