Job Description
The salary range for this position is $28.82 - $42.31/hourly
The Video Production and Content Manager oversees all Athletic Department video board show staffing, sponsorship fulfillment, equipment and content management along with streaming of Huskies athletic events. The individual will assist in managing the athletics brand, including the creation of content for video boards, digital marketing, digital media, and social media initiatives. He/she will also be responsible for the recruitment, management and scheduling of student staff for event coverage of video boards and web streaming productions. This position works collaboratively with St. Cloud State’s Husky Productions to maximize television coverage and storylines for internal and external audiences. The Manager will be a point of contact with St. Cloud State Sports Properties and corporate partners for collection, placement and management of digital assets.
Engineer and manage the streaming and in-game video board production of all home athletics events. Organize, set-up, test, troubleshoot, fix, and tear down all equipment used to ensure videoboard and live stream broadcasts operate successfully for athletic home events. Adhere to conference regulations for web streaming and official replay demands. Direct live on-air and/or videoboard broadcasts in designated sports. Recruit, manage and schedule student workers for event coverage for video board and web streaming productions – including payroll tracking.
Oversee the production of athletic multimedia content. Conceptualize, produce, shoot, and edit video content for SCSU Athletics web, digital media and scoreboard properties, including highlight, game day, and hype videos. Create journalistic, publicity, highlight and other featured multi-media content, including motion graphics for in-game scoreboard and web properties. Work with external team to coordinate and produce all video content for promotional, branding, and sponsorship purposes. Assist with communication to St. Cloud State Sports Properties (Learfield) and corporate partners for collection, placement and management of digital assets.
Serve as a liaison to campus partners, including but not limited to Husky Productions, University Communications, and Information Technology. Assist with efforts to improve production quality of video streams utilizing existing and new technological infrastructures. Manage all current equipment and work with campus partners on video production equipment design, implementation, maintenance, and new technology/upgrades. Plan ahead to anticipate future technology and production needs of athletic department.
Communicate and collaborate with a variety of St. Cloud State University athletics staff and coaches to assist with the strategic plan of the department and its 17 sport programs. Work with Athletics External Operations to handle content and footage requests from internal and external organizations. Oversee athletics video archives as appropriate.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
At least two years of experience in communications, graphic arts/design, media, marketing or related field. Doctorate degree may substitute for two years of experience; master’s degree may substitute for 18 months of experience; bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; associate’s degree may substitute for six months of experience.
Knowledge of a variety of media specifications, formats and requirements, including skills in video and audio production (including pre and postproduction).
Strong proficiency in non-linear video editing and graphic software including Adobe Creative Suite and video production/motion graphics software including, but not limited to, Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and After Effects.
Familiarity with tapeless HD workflows. Extensive knowledge of video codecs and formats, along with knowledge of digital and DSLR camera equipment.
Operational knowledge of Motion Rocket video control system or similar system, video switchers, audio mixers, nonlinear editors, routers, Mac and Window’s OS, NewTek replay systems, Expressions Graphics Systems or similar systems, scoreboard systems; ability to train student staff on use of such equipment.
Familiarity with live web video streaming protocols.
Knowledge of social media platforms (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, etc)
Experience directing and/or producing audio/visual for an in-house audience. Ability to set up and execute solo shoots in a studio and on location. Interview and on-camera experience and ability to manage media content.
Preferred Qualification
Previous experience in Athletics in similar position.
Previous experience which identifies your ability to give and take direction and make decisions in a deadline driven environment.
Strong interpersonal skills (both written and verbal) involving multiple constituencies both internal and external to the University; commitment to strong customer service.
Demonstrated ability to establish effective goal-oriented relationships with student-athletes, coaches, staff, University colleagues, and community members
Evidence of strong organization skills and the ability to maintain multiple ongoing projects at any given time
Other Requirements
Ability to work nights and weekends.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)
Typical schedule is 8am-4:30pm during the week with additional night and weekend hours throughout the academic year when we host our home events
