Position Responsibilities
Work directly with the head athletic trainer for football, and the main coverage for women’s lacrosse and track/cross country
Carry out medical care for assigned student-athletes per the sports medicine standard operating procedures
Coordinate and implement injury prevention and rehabilitation programs for student-athletes with advice from the Head Athletic Trainer and/or physician if needed
Provide accommodation recommendations related to sport, for student-athletes with restrictions or limitations
Make return to play decisions for student-athletes with advice from physician if needed
Maintains electronic medical records of all patient encounters in accordance with federal and state regulations
Communicate with Head Athletic Trainer, physician, and coaches on student-athlete injury status
Responsible for being present at practices and home events as deemed by the Head Athletic Trainer
Responsible for being present for away games depending on sports coverage
Assist visiting athletic teams with medical accommodations and services as needed
Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in supervising Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers and MS Athletic Training Students

Responsible for organization and appearance of all Athletic Training Facilities
Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the annual budget/inventory of all supplies needed to carry out athletic training duties
Assist with the administration of the McKendree University Department of Athletics Drug Policy and Testing Program
Maintain Athletic Training Certification through Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer, Illinois licensure, and CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers & Health Care Providers
Responsible for administrative and other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer
Requirements
Minimum Requirements
BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
Master’s degree from an accredited institution preferred but not required
Licensed, or eligible for licensure, by the State of Illinois Board of Registration for the Healing Arts
Certified in CPR/AED for Basic Life Support and/or Professional Rescuers & Health Care Providers
