The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics (DIA) invites applications for Business Strategy Analyst to support Data & Business Intelligence. Since 1892, DIA has operated on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to support its intercollegiate athletic programs. Today, DIA supports 21 intercollegiate varsity sports which compete as a part of the Big Ten Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association. DIA provides the resources for over 500 student-athletes to participate at the highest levels of their respective sports. This extensive support ecosystem includes over 35 departments employing over 300 dedicated staff members including 80 plus varsity coaches working collaboratively to provide individualized championship-caliber opportunities to our student-athletes, in the classroom, in the competitive arena, and in personal and professional development, to enhance their growth and life preparation. The DIA mission is to Unify, Develop, Inspire, and Achieve, for the benefit of our student-athletes, our university, and our broader community.
DIA has set forth six strategic priorities to help guide and advance its overarching mission: Championship people, championship mindset; strategic innovation and investment; athletic success; financial sustainability; win championships; community engagement and enrichment. Reporting to the Associate Athletic Director for Data & Business Intelligence, the Analyst builds dashboards and models, supports revenue and CRM strategy, and partners with cross-functional teams to translate analysis into actionable commercial decisions.

Impact in Your First Year
Within 3 months, you will:
In the first three months, the Business Strategy Analyst will focus on onboarding, relationship building, and developing a strong understanding of Illinois Athletics' strategic priorities, data environment, and decision‑making processes. The employee will begin supporting ongoing business and operational analyses, contribute to data validation and reporting efforts, and assist senior leaders with ad hoc insights that inform near‑term decisions. By the end of this period, the employee will be a reliable contributor to the Data & Business Intelligence team and an effective partner to internal stakeholders across the department.
Within 6 months, you will:
After six months, the Business Strategy Analyst will independently lead defined analytical projects that support strategic planning, operational efficiency, and performance evaluation across Illinois Athletics. The employee will regularly deliver actionable insights through data analysis, dashboards, and presentations that inform leadership decisions. By this stage, the analyst will have established trusted relationships with stakeholders, proactively identify opportunities for improvement, and contribute meaningfully to cross‑functional initiatives aligned with departmental goals.
By the end of the first year, you will:
After twelve months, the Business Strategy Analyst will serve as a key strategic and analytical resource for Illinois Athletics. The employee will consistently translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that influence long‑term planning and resource allocation. They will play a critical role in advancing data‑driven decision‑making across the organization, improving business processes, and supporting leadership with forward‑looking insights. The position will have a sustained impact on organizational effectiveness, strategic alignment, and the achievement of Illinois Athletics' mission and priorities.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of work experience in IT‐related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows: 30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years).
• Demonstrated experience with data analytics within college athletics.
Master’s degree in business, analytics, or related field.
3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in analytics, revenue management, business intelligence, or related roles. Preferred experience includes work with ticketing platforms (e.g., Paciolan), CRM systems (Salesforce), forecasting/pricing models, and developing executive dashboards and reporting.
Certifications or coursework in data analytics, Power BI, SQL, or related platforms.
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date of May 4, 2026. The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 and the salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
