Summary The Case Manager works with the mental health programs and functions of the Tulane University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to deliver comprehensive mental health and lifetime wellness services. This position is responsible for providing case management services by: assisting students to reliably connect to community providers and resources; coordinating referrals between university, community, state, regional, and nationwide service providers; triaging clients through brief clinical assessments to determine level of care and disposition; intervening with students in crisis and providing support, resources, and information; contacting insurance companies; keeping an up-to-date database of community referrals; providing individual counseling, group counseling, supervision and outreach as needed assisting the Assistant Director, Clinical Behavioral Health in maintaining a successful case management system.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Experience providing case management, crisis intervention, brief assessment/triage, and care coordination to young adults and/or college students. • Experience in high-demand outpatient or inpatient health settings. • Experience and interest in working in a fast-paced and evolving setting • Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team of mental health providers. • Experience providing culturally competent care to a diverse client population. • Knowledge and experience in the use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures. This includes acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses/injuries; common medications and their effects/side effects; and medical terminology. Knowledge and use of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the APA (DSM-5) is required. • Knowledge of community resources, how to make appropriate referrals to the community and other agencies for services, and the ability to coordinate services. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team of mental health clinicians. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with campus personnel, such as professionals in academic affairs and other student services providers. • Demonstrated ability to work within a large system and to collaborate effectively in a large mental health services agency. • Ability to focus on the orientation of details while also working towards long-term goals. • Demonstrated ability to work quickly, timely, and effectively in an independent manner. • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and timely manner with multidisciplinary personnel • Demonstrated ability to identify and execute daily priorities, establish short-term and long-term goals, while managing incoming responsibilities and tasks.

NCAA Related: Ensures that all Department of Athletics and University-related activities operate in full compliance with university, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations. Attends and participates in scheduled compliance seminars and complies with all the Athletic Department’s efforts to monitor compliance with NCAA regulations. Seeks interpretations from the compliance staff before acting when necessary. Report potential rule violations immediately. Completes required compliance paperwork in a timely and efficient manner. Monitors all his/her areas and/or program activities closely to maintain compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
Required Education and/or Experience • Master of Social Work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education • Licensed Master Social Worker in Louisiana (or the ability to obtain, before start date) • One year of experience with direct patient care, case management, and psychosocial issues of adults
Preferred Qualifications • Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 2 years of direct experience providing case management, brief assessment/triage, and crisis intervention services. • Experience working with collegiate student-athletes. • Experience working in a university counseling center. • Experience and expertise working with college students who have marginalized identities or historically underutilize mental health services.
Compensation Information This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 26.
