Job Summary
Three-Quarter-time hourly (average 28 hrs. pr week) position for a Certified Athletic Trainer to work with BYU Extramural Sports teams. 3 shifts available, Morning 5am-9am, Mid-day 11am-3pm, and Afternoon/evening 4pm-8pm. Each position may work Saturdays and may travel with select teams. This position provides care and services that are in line with the vision and standards of BYU. This position is responsible for evaluation, care, prevention, and management of athletic injuries to include; rehabilitation, recording of athletic injuries, coordinating care and referral of athletes with other allied health professionals. Then Athletic Trainer will have the opportunity to teach/supervise Athletic Training graduate students. Help maintain the safety and cleanliness of the facility. This position reports to the Extramural Sports Athletic Training Manager.
What you'll do in this position:
· Provides Athletic Training and sports medicine services for the assigned Extramural athletic program. Coverage includes attendance at scheduled training room coverage with team practices and home competitions. This may include away competitions as necessary.
· Takes preventive measures against potential injuries, maintains complete records of all injuries, recommendations, medications and treatments given to the athletes.
· Ensures consistent communication and follow-up of athlete's well-being to coach's, school administrators, and team physician.
· Assists in coordinating physical examinations and medical referrals.
· Evaluates and recommends new techniques and equipment that would enhance the benefit of the sports medicine program.
· Helps support the clinical and didactic education of the University's CAATE approved Athletic Training Education Program students and graduate staff and participates as an approved clinical instructor.
· Hours heavier through winter semester when the teams are in season. Summer off. Fall semester hours lighter than winter.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
· A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
Licenses Required
· Current license to practice as an Athletic Trainer in the State of Utah.
· Certification as an Athletic Trainer with the National Athletic Trainers Association issued by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer
Preferred
· Master's degree in appropriate area of specialization.
· Two years of athletic training experience post-Bachelor's degree.
