This position reports to the Head Women’s Softball Coach.
The Chief of Staff and Video Analysis Coordinator is a dual-role position that serves as a strategic advisor and right-hand to the head coach while also being responsible for the comprehensive analysis of practice, game, and opponent videos. This role is pivotal in enhancing the performance and development of student-athletes within the softball program.
Responsibilities –
Act as a trusted advisor to the head coach, providing strategic counsel and support. Oversee the athlete management system, ensuring the tracking of progress and development of student-athletes as players, students, and community members. Facilitate communication between the coaching staff, athletes, administrative, and support personnel. Coordinate with various departments to align the softball program’s objectives with the university’s mission and values. Lead special projects and initiatives as directed by the head coach.
This position will independently collect and analyze extensive practice, game, and opponent video footage. Utilize expert judgment to identify, determine, and break down specific content for coaching strategy development. Create detailed descriptions of the team’s style of play and define coaching strategies implemented. Provide insightful feedback and guidance on athletic progress and performance enhancement. Convey analytical findings and recommendations to the coaching staff daily, requiring proficiency in softball-specific terminology and strategies. Collect and track strength numbers, game statistics and metrics throughout the season and over the course of each student athlete’s career at the University of Washington.
Assist with the day-to-day management of on and off-campus recruiting activities. Manage the recruiting calendar, databases, and on-campus events. Evaluate and analyze film of recruits, maintaining a comprehensive recruiting database for the coaching staff. Support the coaching staff with recruiting paperwork and the coordination of program events.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Minimum Requirements –
Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in analytics, electronics, sport administration, or collegiate softball; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience. Three to five years of collegiate softball experience preferred. Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines. Strong initiative to solve problems. Ability to work with a diverse group of coaches, administration and student-athletes. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
Preferred Qualifications –
Knowledge of NCAA/Conference rules. Understanding of technologies such as Synergy/Dartfish Video sharing system, Yakkertek, and Trackman Radar/Flightscope.
