Administer, coach, and train student athletes for Tier 1 sport to provide a successful intercollegiate competition experience for LMU student athletes.
Duties: Provide training, direction, encouragement, and motivation to LMU’s water polo team during practice and competition. Plan and conduct team and individual training sessions as well as instruct the team in water polo strategies and performance principles. Assess the physical and psychological strengths and weaknesses of individual athletes as well as research and apply the latest coaching techniques to develop strategies to encourage, motivate, and prepare athletes for competition. Develop strategy and organization of all home and ‘road’ games. Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of opposing teams to develop competition strategies. Establish, develop, and maintain recruitment networks. Recruit athletically- and academically- qualified water polo athletes. Monitor initial and continual academic eligibility. Manage all aspects of LMU’s Water Polo program in accordance with the rules and policies established by Loyola Marymount University, the Athletics Department, all Sports Conference Affiliations, and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Coordinating event scheduling, travel arrangements, home event management, and facility use. Overseeing the development and management of the sports program budget and fundraising activities.
Requirements** :** Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, in sports management, psychology, or a related field plus three (3) years of recruiting, fitness training, water sport coaching, or related experience: creating a developmentally appropriate curriculum that emphasizes fundamentals and skills progression; conducting training sessions with a focus on age-appropriate physical, technical, tactical, and psychological development; organizing teams to foster competitive balance and developmental growth; developing seasonal plans that align with the long-term athlete development model; evaluating athlete performance using both quantitative and qualitative measures; scheduling and coordinating local and regional competitions that are suitable for the skill level of the teams; planning logistics for team events, including transportation, accommodations, and itineraries; engaging in community outreach to attract new participants to the program; identifying and recruiting talented athletes to join and advance the program; overseeing the budget for programs, including equipment purchases, facility rentals, and competition fees.
Reasonable Expected Salary - $100,000. Salary offer commensurate with education and experience.
