The College Football Equipment Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of football equipment operations. This includes managing inventory, issuing gear to players and coaches, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining equipment for optimal performance. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, particularly during the football season.
Bachelor’s degree preferred (Sports Management, Athletic Administration, or related field).
Prior experience in equipment management, preferably at the collegiate or professional level.
Certification from the Athletic Equipment Managers Association (
AEMA
) is a plus.
Knowledge of football equipment brands, fitting techniques, and maintenance procedures.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
Ability to lift heavy equipment and work long hours, including weekends and travel.
Fast-paced, high-energy environment with significant travel required during the football season.
Physical labor, including lifting and transporting heavy equipment.
Extended hours, including evenings and weekends, especially during football season.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities

- Equipment Distribution & Maintenance:
- Issue, fit, and maintain all football-related gear, including helmets, pads, uniforms, and footwear.
- Ensure all equipment meets NCAA, conference, and institutional safety standards.
- Oversee the repair, cleaning, and replacement of gear as needed.
- Inventory & Logistics:
- Manage and track inventory of uniforms, helmets, pads, and other team gear.
- Coordinate with vendors for ordering, receiving, and distributing new equipment.
- Organize and transport equipment for home and away games, ensuring all necessary gear is available.
- Game & Practice Operations:
- Set up and break down equipment for practices and games.
- Ensure the availability of backup equipment on the sidelines during games.
- Assist coaches and players with equipment-related issues during practices and games.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Stay up to date with NCAA and conference equipment regulations.
- Conduct routine safety checks on all protective equipment.
- Ensure proper documentation of equipment issuance and returns.
- Team Support & Leadership:
- Supervise and train student managers and assistants.
- Collaborate with coaching staff to ensure equipment needs are met.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for equipment-related concerns.
