This position will work closely with the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Communications and Content, in addition to working alongside the communications, marketing and creative teams. Travel will be required, as well as working long hours and weekends.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Serve as the primary communications contact for the cross country and track and field programs.
   
2. Prepare, maintain, and distribute media information and other publicity for the cross country and track and field programs.
   
3. Manage, create, and strategize creative content for the department’s social and digital media platforms related to the cross country and track and field programs.
   
4. Produce content for the official athletic department website, particularly as it relates the cross country and track and field programs.
   
5. Serve as team spokesperson and coordinate all media appearances for the cross country and track and field programs.
   
6. Travel with the team(s).
   
7. Supervise media operations for all home sport events.
   
8. Promote student-athletes for various national, regional and conference awards.
   
9. Work closely with the SEC’s broadcast partners and external media to provide accurate information for coverage.
   
10. Maintain statistical archives, bios and records.
    
11. Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate local, state and national media representatives. Work to develop positive relations with the local community.
    
12. Complete other departmental tasks as assigned by the Senior Associate Athletic Director/Communications and Content.
    
13. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Business or Sport Management, with one (1) year of experience in media relations, athletic communications or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

1. Ability to travel with the team.
   
2. Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends.
   
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
   
4. Knowledge of media, media relations concepts and principles, print and electronic media outlets, accurate writing skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

1. Frequent interruptions based on changing priorities; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
   
2. Job regularly involves lifting, bending or other physical exertion.
   
3. Job frequently requires walking, standing, lifting, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands.
   
4. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dirt, chemicals, etc.
