Provides support for academic records for current and past students. Manage compliance for all eligible athletes. This person must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with various campus constituencies. This person should also have high attention to detail, as records must be kept accurately to ensure student success.
The person who fills this position must be someone who personally agrees with Biola’s Articles of Faith and Statement of Biblical Principles and who is supportive of the positions taken by Biola as contained in its Eschatology Teaching Position. As such, this person may not speak against or act in a manner inconsistent with these positions during the course of their employment at Biola.
NCAA
Serves as a member of and actively participates in the University’s NCAA Compliance Committee.
Maintains current knowledge of and strict adherence to NCAA Division II and PacWest Conference legislation, requirements, and regulations.
Leads the eligibility process and communicates the timetable for certifying eligibility each semester.
Maintains & updates the PacWest Academic Eligibility report for each team.
Accesses the NCAA Eligibility Center to obtain updates regarding the Institutional Request List (IRL) and initial eligibility.
Utilizes the NCAA/NAIA Applications Portal to access and submit transfer tracers.
Reviews, verifies and certifies initial & continuing NCAA eligibility for practice, competition, and financial aid eligibility (related to qualifier status/academic eligibility) for incoming & returning student-athletes each semester.
Provides unofficial evaluations/transfer requirement analysis for prospective transfer student-athletes
Evaluates and verifies transfer course work for eligibility purposes for each transfer student-athlete, including calculation of NCAA transfer GPA.
Responsible for evaluating, verifying, and certifying all student-athletes compliance with the 9/18/24 hour requirements, credit hour requirements, progress towards degree, GPA requirements, full-time enrollment, declaration of major, seasons used, and for reviewing the overall eligibility rosters for all teams.
Maintenance of student-athlete records in Banner each semester containing all eligibility fields/data
Reviews and approves summer courses in ARMS compliance software for student-athletes taking summer courses (as part of the Summer Course Pre-Approval work-flow) to ensure the course meets progress toward degree requirements, will transfer to Biola, and the student-athletes will not exceed the cap of 25% of credits for the year being taken during the summer.
Communicates with Academic Advising and the Compliance Committee regarding student-athletes that are of concern due to academics (borderline with GPA, PTD, FT enrollment, declaration of major, etc.).
Reviews the Historical Questionnaire and Permission to Contact/Transfer Tracer Form and accesses the Eligibly Center to verify the information received and to account for any missed semesters of attendance or delayed enrollment.
In conjunction with the Athletic Compliance Office, assists with the educational efforts of university faculty, staff, and student-athletes on NCAA academic eligibility rules and regulations, including annual education of student-athletes at Athletics Orientation event.
Stays up-to-date with pending/proposed changes to NCAA Division II and PacWest rules and regulations regarding eligibility standards and the implications for Biola’s student-athletes.
Works closely with the Academic Advising Office and University Admissions in the academic matriculation of student-athletes.

Assistant Registrar for Compliance
General: Clear understanding of how the various functions of the Office of the Registrar contribute to and function within the broader mission of the University. Clear understanding of the role Christian Education plays in the world and the global Christian church. Excellent work ethic, timeliness, communication, interpersonal and relational skills. Customer service experience, with the ability to successfully serve difficult customers and resolve customer situations. Versatile, professional appearance, and works with others to create a positive and service-oriented work environment within the department and across campus. Ability and willingness to learn and positively contribute to the spiritual growth, care, and support of fellow employees. Detail-oriented, independent and self-motivated, with the ability to effectively multitask.
Education: Some college required, BA preferred.
Skills: Excellent customer service skills. Accurate clerical and data processing skills; typing (min 45 wpm min); familiarity/experience with Google Apps and Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word & Excel).

Hiring Range: $23.15 - 24.85 per hour
