This position will be responsible for overseeing all data processing pipelines for data collected through routine student-athlete testing, research projects, and other projects resulting from internal and external collaborations. The Data Engineer will work closely with Badger Athletic Performance Program staff, students, and trainees to ensure successful data collections and productive lines of research. The primary projects the position will have oversight of is maintaining an OpenSim/Matlab pipeline for analyzing gait and jumping data; maintaining Matlab processing code for analyzing muscle EMG and torque-time signals; and maintaining and developing Matlab GUIs for real-time data analysis and biofeedback. This position will also assist with protocol development for testing new equipment, data collections for specific research projects of interest, and preparing data, tables, figures, etc for research publications and presentations.
An ideal candidate will have a strong background working with OpenSim and Matlab, with particular experience developing biofeedback systems and musculoskeletal models and/or simulations. Prior experience with human subjects research or data collection in a clinical setting and collecting and analyzing optical motion capture data is also preferred.
This position is based on-campus at UW-Madison and typically adheres to a Monday-Friday work schedule, though schedule flexibility within the typical work week is necessary for some data collections (e.g. outside of 8am-5pm).

Highly preferred competencies:
- Experience with human subjects research
- Experience writing and maintaining Matlab code, specifically for analyzing clinical research data and creating GUIs
- Experience creating and maintaining OpenSim data processing pipelines
- Experience collecting and analyzing data from inertial measurement units (IMUs)
Preferred competencies:
- Experience developing testing protocols for new devices
- Experience working with optical Motion Capture software and hardware
- Familiarity with Illustrator, CAD, and/or other design software

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
