GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under the supervision of the Head Football Coach, the incumbent will serve as Offensive Assistant Coach. The incumbent will perform duties included, but not limited to, recruiting student athletes, planning practice, game strategic planning for the entire offensive unit, academic progress of student athletes, compliance coordinator, necessary public relations work and fundraising (when applicable). The position reports to the Head Football Coach, with up-line reporting to the Athletic Director, Senior Women Administrator and the President. Interacts with other members of the athletic department staff, administrative assistant/office manager, student-athletes, athletic trainers, sports information staff and other Faculty/Staff members as well as the general public.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintains knowledge and rules of the NCAA in all aspects it relates to this position.
Provides academic/personal counseling to position players and special team units; compiles and reviews academic progress of student-athletes and visit with players as needed; assists in study hall or academic counseling sessions.
Reviews game tapes and grade same; maintains an updated video library of all opponents and instructional tapes for defensive staff.
Supervises game day set up of equipment; organizes game day locker room.

Recruits student-athletes and complete necessary compliance paperwork with regards to recruiting.
Assists with practice planning with other members of the coaching staff.
Advises coaching strategies for special teams.
Football program liaison with Financial Aid, Athletic Compliance departments, assisting with answering questions or providing data upon request.
ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs public relations work.
Perform fundraising activities (when needed).
Meets recruits at the airport, drives to campus and back to the airport.
Other job duties as assigned by the Head Coach and or Athletic Director.

Minimum Requirements** :** Bachelor’s Degree and or equivalent coaching experience. Master’s degree preferred. Working knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance issues concerning the administration of Intercollegiate Athletics are required. Demonstrated ability to recruit student-athletes with potential for academic and athletic success. Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public. A valid driver’s license is preferred. The equivalent combination of education, related work experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
Working Conditions and Atmosphere
In accordance with the principles of NCAA rules compliance, it is understood that any employee who is found in violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedures, including suspension without pay or termination of employment. If, for any reason including but not limited to resignation, reassignment, death, disability or voluntary termination of the head coach, this employment relationship automatically terminates within forty-five days of the date the change in status of the head coach.
Visible program under constant scrutiny of students, faculty, staff, community, media, and alumni. Considerable travel and frequent night and weekend hours involved. Incumbent spends the period of August to November and one month in the spring coaching the sport of football. The balance of the year is spent recruiting, utilizing independent judgment and a great deal of analysis in recruiting prospects and offer them the opportunity to join the JCSU Football program.
