University of Utah Athletics Department is currently seeking applicants for a full time Football Sports Dietitian. We will be accepting applications until the position is filled.

Assist in overseeing the high-performance sports nutrition needs for football, alongside of the Director of Football Nutrition
Conduct new athlete nutrition screenings, and follow up consults
Develop programming for weight gain, maintain and loss players.
Work as a member of the Football Sport Performance Team.
Work as a member of the Sports Nutrition Team, including attending weekly staff meetings, and collaborating on department policies, procedures, and protocols
Work closely with the Director of Operations for Football and Assistant Director of Operations for football for home and travel nutrition needs.
Assist Head Chef of Athletic Dining with menu planning and development for the all-athlete dining hall.
Mentor sports nutrition interns, graduate students, work-study students, and volunteers.
Manage football volunteer, intern, and work-study schedules, as well as orientating them to the fueling station
Coordinate game day fueling.
Attend meals and provide nutrition coaching.
Coordinate medical nutrition therapy for specialized conditions such as: anemia, celiac disease, diabetes, disordered eating, food allergies, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, injury, illnesses, etc.
Collaborate with the medical and performance staff for body composition (
DXA
) testing, conducted by the College of Health
Develop and present team sports nutrition education sessions.
Work as a member of the sports nutrition team to develop new protocols and update existing protocols based on current literature.
Stay up to date on new research in the areas of nutrition and exercise physiology.
Provide education on banned substances and supplements.
Understand supplement and feeding bylaws as defined by the
NCAA
and the BIG12.
Develop programs to assist athletes with life skills such as cooking, grocery shopping, menu planning and time management.
Assist with ordering for the sports nutrition department.
Assist in managing and restocking the football fueling station.

Ability to educate individuals with various levels of education and understanding.
Knowledge of nutrition-related order entry to include applicability of ordering pertinent lab values, swallowing evaluations, and inpatient/outpatient consults to ancillary services that align with patients’ nutrition care plan.
Demonstrated service excellence for patient and family-centered care by showing respect, honesty, fairness, and a positive attitude toward all customers.
Demonstrated accountability with the rules for use and disclosure of patient/client protected health information required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (
HIPAA
).
Advanced knowledge of human physiology, biochemistry, and metabolism as it relates to clinical nutrition status, food chemistry, nutrient composition, and dietary analysis.
Knowledge of federal requirements set forth under the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (
CMS
) Conditions of Participation (CoP) and/or Conditions of Coverage (CoC) in order to receive Medicare/Medicaid payment.
Registered Dietitian (RD) for a minimum of 2 years.
2+ years of experience working with athletes.
Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (
CSSD
) or eligible.
Ability to work a non-standard workweek, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Excellent time and priority management skills.
Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments/responsibilities.
Ability to work as an integral part of the sports nutrition team, football nutrition team, and football staff/coaches
