The Opportunity:
Washington State University Athletics is seeking a creative, strategic, and results-driven Digital Marketing & Social Media Strategist to elevate the visibility, engagement, and brand identity of WSU Athletics across digital platforms. In this position, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing our digital marketing and paid media strategies, overseeing social media content execution, and driving fan engagement through email campaigns and targeted digital efforts.
You will report to the Associate Athletic Director of Marketing and Fan Experience, directly supervise the Social Media Manager and a team of student interns, and will collaborate with external units including strategic communications, creative media, video production, ticketing, and development to ensure a consistent and compelling digital presence across all platforms.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime-eligible.
Monthly Salary: $4,216 to $5,666 | Range 47 | Steps A - M. Successful candidates are typically hired at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28. Step M is typically a longevity step.
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, journalism, humanities, public relations, OR related field AND one (1) year of writing/editing/public relations experience; OR equivalent education/experience.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends on a regular basis.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in marketing, public relations, communications, sports management or other related field.
Demonstrated successful digital marketing experience in athletics.
Demonstrated experience using Eloqua, WIT, or similar applications.
Demonstrated work experience in sponsorship sales and contract fulfillments.
Demonstrated successful experience in management and supervision of internship or student programs.
Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete projects independently and with specific deadlines.
Demonstrated experience working in positions that require strong communication skills.
Possess strong time management and organizational skills.
Strong computer background with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe software.
Ability to work with students, coaches, and administrators in a broad range of situations.
Experience in driving revenue generation campaigns including social media.
