Georgia Tech Office of Development (DEV)
Our fundraising team at Georgia Tech currently consists of more than 100 professionals who are focused on securing transformative philanthropy (major and principal gifts) to support the strategic priorities of the Institute and its colleges, schools, and programs, including Georgia Tech Athletics. For fiscal year 2024 (closed 6/30/2024), the Development team's efforts resulted in over $243 million in new gifts and commitments in support of Transforming Tomorrow: The Campaign for Georgia Tech which will secure more than $2 billion in new commitments and gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations, and other organizations. One of the most significant priorities within Transforming Tomorrow is ensuring access of the brightest undergraduate, graduate, and professional students to Georgia Tech, regardless of their socioeconomic backgrounds. Responsible for the design and implementation of a comprehensive initiative to attract unrestricted gifts to the GTAA made via the Alexander-Tharpe Fund, Inc. Plan and implement a program to identify, evaluate, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospective donors for unrestricted gifts in support of the GTAA. Focus on individual donors and prospects but may also interact with foundations and corporations as appropriate. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations. This position will interact on a regular basis with: donors, staff, coaches, and students. This position typically will advise and counsel: coaches, staff, and students. This position will supervise: staff.
Job Duty 1 -
Create and implement a complete plan to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors for unrestricted support of Georgia Tech athletics with a focus on annual gifts and sports programs.
Job Duty 2 -
Generate reports to donors as it pertains to annual giving and pledge balances.
Job Duty 3 -
Handle calls and requests from donors that pertain to their gifts, pledge balances, and priority points.
Job Duty 4 -
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a pool of major gift prospects.
Job Duty 5 -
Identify and refer prospective donors of major gifts to other A-T major gift officers.
Job Duty 6 -
Coordinate and collaborate closely with development officers assigned to regions, colleges, schools, and other campus units as appropriate to facilitate communication with donors.
Job Duty 7 -
Facilitate interaction among major gift donors and prospective donors with GTAA coaches, staff, and administration.
Job Duty 8 -
Establish and work with volunteer committees when/if appropriate.
Job Duty 9 -
Participate in regular meetings with other members of the Georgia Tech development staff.
Job Duty 10 -
Perform other duties as assigned
Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Experience
Four to five years of job related experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success in fundraising with a focus on individuals, preferable in athletics at a research university
Preferred Experience
Five years or more of job-related experience: Demonstrated success in fundraising with a focus on individuals, preferable in athletics at a research university; use of Blackbaud, Paciolan, iFolio, iModules, ThankView, RNL, SalesLoft, Donor Mall, and SalesForce.
Proposed Salary: $75,000 - $83,000 commensurate with education and experience.
ABILITIES
Strong ability to identify potential major gift and planned giving donors and opportunities, analyze data, to be flexible, work in diverse environment, demonstrate high ethical standards, exhibit professionalism, handle multiple assignments simultaneously, work well under pressure, interact with all levels of donors, and respond to questions/inquiries from donors and other staff.
This position, at times, may be required to work weekends.
KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of NCAA regulations as they pertain to donors and fundraising, gift management, stewardship, and specialized donor and ticketing software systems.
SKILLS
This job requires experience in specialized donor and ticketing software systems. The ability to identify potential planned giving donors and opportunities is required. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of donors and prospective donors; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong strategic planning and organizational skills; strong computer skills; and the ability to hand multiple assignments simultaneously and work well under pressure is also required.
