The Director, Compliance Services, works under the direction of the Associate Athletics Director, Compliance Services. The position works cooperatively with athletic department staff, coaches, and student-athletes to provide advice and information on compliance-related matters as well as to resolve and monitor compliance-related issues. The position will serve as the subject matter expert responsible for best practices and internal accountability for one or more specific bylaws, overseeing the day-to-day tasks of one or more staff members, being the compliance liaison for all applicable rules for a select number of varsity programs and DAPER departments, collaborating with senior management as required, and serving as a leader within the office for setting policies, calendars, and other initiatives.
Run the day-to-day compliance operations for a select number of sport programs, ensuring compliance with all NCAA bylaws, including but not limited to the following areas:

Lead and/or assist with projects that further advance the integrity of the Compliance Services Office.
Lead with investigation and preparation of rules violation reports and student-athlete reinstatement requests.
Assist with fiscal monitoring of Compliance Services budget and budgetary decisions
Serve as the compliance liaison to other DAPER units as assigned.
Serve as the compliance liaison to non-athletics campus units, as assigned.
Review, coordinate, and implement rules education initiatives and policy/procedure updates.
Identify risk areas and propose solutions, including drafting, implementing, and monitoring DAPER policies.
Supervise and train junior staff and ensuring training in place for new DAPER employees
Expected to work autonomously on day-to-day responsibilities while endeavoring to work independently on projects intended to better the processes and efficiency of the compliance services office as a whole, using appropriate discretion and ensuring actions are in line with institutional and departmental best interests.
Serve as subject matter expert across multiple NCAA bylaws to keep team members informed on current legislation within the applicable bylaw(s) and apprised of upcoming deadlines or obligations for compliance sport liaisons to work with their teams.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree and five years of athletics compliance experience, or other relevant experience in compliance, industry, higher education, or combination of education and relevant experience. Master’s degree and/or J.D. preferred and NCAA and/or athletics compliance experience.
