MAJOR PURPOSE
The purpose of the Director of Athletic Communications is to oversee and lead the communications and
marketing efforts of the athletic department, through both print and digital means. The Director of
Athletic Communications will provide managerial leadership in support of the athletic department in
many facets, including but not limited to: sports information, marketing, web design, digital content
creation, game management, and event management. The Director of Athletic Communications will lead
and oversee the game management of all home athletic events, including the scheduling and
management of game staff, fan interaction, livestream, and other media relations requirements.
This position requires time spent on campus, select venues off campus for Jessup events, and occasional
remote work.

MAJOR PURPOSE
The purpose of the Director of Athletic Communications is to oversee and lead the communications and
marketing efforts of the athletic department, through both print and digital means. The Director of
Athletic Communications will provide managerial leadership in support of the athletic department in
many facets, including but not limited to: sports information, marketing, web design, digital content
creation, game management, and event management. The Director of Athletic Communications will lead
and oversee the game management of all home athletic events, including the scheduling and
management of game staff, fan interaction, livestream, and other media relations requirements.
This position requires time spent on campus, select venues off campus for Jessup events, and occasional
remote work.
The pay range for this position is generally: $65,000-$70,000 annually. Individual pay is generally
determined by a number of factors including job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training
and location.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
● Oversees all digital and print communication efforts related to Jessup Athletics.
● Establishes and upholds an annual Athletic Communications Plan that includes coverage of
individual sports, marketing strategies, and fan experience growth.
● Manages and works within the annual Athletic Communications budget.
● Leads and supervises Sports Information Coordinator.
● Leads, supervises and performs all necessary actions within the athletics communications,
marketing and promotions area of the athletic department including game materials and fan
engagement.
● Acts as webmaster for the athletic department website: Jessupathletics.com; responsible for
creation of content, feature stories, coach bios, player profiles, social media platforms, etc.
● Oversees all athletics social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok,
for the athletics department and all teams.
● Establishes, develops and maintains relationships with members of the media, both in print and
television, serving as the primary liaison between the athletic department and members of the
media, both locally and nationally.
In coordination with the Senior Woman Administrator, hires, trains, and schedules game/event
management staff for all home athletics events.

● Communicates regularly with opposing schools, both within the conference and outside, to
provide needed materials for all events, both at home and on the road.
● Coordinates accurate in-game statistics for home contests and compiles statistics from road
contests for NCAA and PacWest reporting, season records and post season awards.
● Assists in accommodating the working press at home events. Prepare press kits for local media
as well as the opposition's staff.
● Provides timely updates and game summaries of all athletic events both on social media and the
athletics website: www.jessupathletics.com
● Oversees ticket sales and fan engagement both at in-person box office, and through Jessup’s
online ticket platform.
● Produces regular reports regarding ticket sales, website clicks, live stream views, etc.
● Travel periodically to events both in the regular season and postseason as appointed by the
Athletic Director.
● Represents Jessup University nationally and regionally at conference meetings, conventions, and
tournaments when appointed by the Athletic Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certifications
● Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or a related field.
● Master’s Degree preferred
Required Knowledge/Experience
● Minimum five years working in sports information or other related fields
● Knowledge ofNCAA stat software such as StatCrew, Presto, and NCAA Live Stats
● Experience in content creation and management of SIDEARM and SID Help web platforms
● Required knowledge of Google Platform, including Gmail and Google Drive
● Experience using graphic design programs such as InDesign, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Canva
● Strong writing and editing ability in line with the AP Style Guide
● Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and experience speaking publicly in front of
crowds and on camera.
● Minimum Class B driver’s license required. Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass
Jessup MVR (Motor Vehicle Requirement).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

WORKING CONDITIONS
The employee is regularly in a typical, air-conditioned office environment with adequate light; moderate
noise levels; and tile, concrete, and carpeted floors. There are no hazardous or significantly unpleasant
conditions. Occasionally, the employee’s working time will be spent outdoors on sports fields in all types
of weather and might require standing for long periods, working with equipment or machinery and,
being able to walk, run, kneel, crouch, stoop or crawl. Travel may be required for this position

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and frequently
required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands to handle files, computers, and phones; reach with hands and
arms; stoop, crouch and kneel. Frequent and regular repetitive movements required using the wrists,
hands, and/or fingers. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision
abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the
ability to adjust focus.
