The Opportunity:

West Liberty University is seeking applications forDirector of Athletics.This position provides oversight, guidance and supervision for all aspects of the men/s and women's intercollegiate athletic sports programs and facilities. This position requires someone who may have considerable expertise in intercollegiate athletic management, a keen business sense, and an appreciation for the important role athletics play at a public university.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Develops plans, policies, procedures, and programs which are in compliance with University, Mountain East Conference, NCAA rules and regulations along with applicable state and federal laws
• Develops budget guidelines, approves budget appropriations and monitors conformance to budget
• Develops and implements long term plans regarding fiscal needs for operations and capital improvement and vision for the Athletics Department
• Develops and implements programs to increase revenue sources to include effective plans for marketing and promotions as well as fundraising and alumni relations
• Promotes excellence on local, conference and national levels for men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports programs
• Ensures that coaching and administrative staff actively support the Department and University's joint commitment to academic achievement, student success, and student recruitment
• Approves all employee contracts for the coaches, trainers, administrative staff and other personnel who work for the department
• Promotes an environment that provides an outstanding student-athlete experience
• Promotes efforts to engage the community in support of the athletic program and University objectives
• Supervises the coaches and other staff and provides professional growth opportunities for them
• Serves as primary spokesperson for the Department promoting the philosophy and mission of the athletic program
• Performs other duties as assigned by the President

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required
• Master's degree in a related field is preferred
• At least 5 years experience coaching at the high school or college level is required
• At least 5 years of administrative experience at the college level is required

• Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
• Demonstrated problem solving skills
• Ability to lead/manage others and provide professional development and mentoring
• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong oral, written, and interpersonal skills
