Reporting to the Head Coach, Men’s Basketball, the Director of Player Development is responsible for preparing student-athletes for personal, academic and athletic development success. This role is responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Atlantic 10 Conference and
NCAA
.
Specific Responsibilities:
Name Image and Likeness liaison.
Liaison for all things related to training room.
Special Projects as assigned by Head Coach.
Create and implement individual development plans to ensure student-athletes’ needs are addressed and met as they relate to academics and/or personal goals.
In conjunction with sports performance and sports medicine staffs, develop and monitor the conditioning and training program to enhance individual and team potential.
In collaboration with academic services, guide and promote student-athletes academic success, providing a positive atmosphere conducive to social and academic growth.
Coordinates student-athlete community service, on and off campus events
Former student-athlete liaison.
On the court, instruction when one or more of the coaches are not present. Performs other duties as assigned.
The position is based at GW’s Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC but will require significant domestic travel for games and events. The incumbent may perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Experience with intercollegiate basketball as a student-athlete or coach preferred.
Knowledge of
NCAA
, Atlantic 10 Conference, University and Department rules and guidelines preferred.
