The Director of Broadcast Operations is responsible for overseeing all ESPN/SEC Network productions originating from the control rooms in the LSU Athletic Administration building. This role serves as the primary Director/Producer for live television broadcasts and in-venue productions across multiple sports, including soccer, volleyball, basketball, gymnastics, baseball, and softball, as well as press conferences. The position acts as a key liaison between coaches, administration, and ESPN to ensure all productions meet the quality and branding standards set by LSU, the SEC, and ESPN.
40% Oversee all ESPN/SEC Network productions from the control rooms in the Athletic Administration building. Serve as Director/Producer for television broadcasts and in-venue productions. Act as liaison between coaches and administration for all broadcast productions. Manage all broadcasts across ESPN platforms including soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, gymnastics, baseball, softball and press conferences. Ensure production quality aligns with LSU, SEC and ESPN standards.
35% Ensure all broadcast logistics and planning are completed for successful execution of events. Oversee administrative tasks such as staff/crew scheduling. Collaborate with Broadcast Engineer on facility and equipment maintenance. Assist with technical operations, including equipment load-in/out, rehearsals and setup. Work closely with ESPN, third-party vendors, and LSU departments.
20% Evaluate performance of full-time, freelance, student staff and on-air talent during live events. Assist with recruiting training and mentoring of freelance and student staff across all production roles. Support onboarding and development for new hires.
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of a respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Works collaboratively with the Office of Communications and University Relations and adheres to the standards set therein; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with five years experience in a broadcast production setting. Working knowledge of Ross XPression, Ross Carbonite Black Switchers, Grass Valley Router Panels, Chyron ClickEffects, Hitachi SMPTE Camera Systems, Large Box Lenses, etc. Must demonstrate ability to perform tasks under tight deadlines, work independently and prioritize simultaneous projects. Must be able to communicate and interact effectively, respectfully and appropriately with populations in the Department, University and community.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Live Events and ESPN Network operations.
