The Director of Development, Annual Fund plays a crucial role within Tennessee State University’s department of athletics, leading efforts to cultivate, solicit, and steward annual fund donors. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow the annual fund, fostering a culture of giving among alumni, supporters, and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities
Annual Fund Strategy:
Develop and execute a comprehensive annual fund strategy to achieve fundraising goals and support the financial needs of the athletic department.
Donor Cultivation and Solicitation:
Identify, cultivate, and solicit annual fund donors through personalized outreach, meetings, and engagement activities.
Implement effective stewardship practices to maintain and enhance donor relationships.
Alumni Engagement:
Collaborate with alumni relations teams to engage former student-athletes and alumni in annual giving initiatives.
Develop targeted campaigns to reconnect with alumni and increase their participation in the annual fundraising.
Fundraising Events:
Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns aimed at generating support for the annual fund.
Coordinate events in collaboration with other departments to maximize donor engagement.
Communication and Marketing:
Develop compelling communication materials, including newsletters, emails, and social media content, to promote the annual fund and highlight its impact.
Work closely with the marketing team to create a consistent and persuasive messaging strategy.
Data Management:
Oversee the collection, analysis, and management of donor data to inform fundraising strategies.
Ensure accurate and up-to-date records of donor interactions and contributions.
Collaboration with Athletics Administration:
Collaborate with athletics administration and coaching staff to align fundraising efforts with the strategic priorities of the athletic department.
Provide regular updates and reports on fundraising progress.
Gift Acknowledgment and Recognition:
Implement timely acknowledgment processes for donor gifts and ensure appropriate recognition for donors.
Develop and implement donor recognition programs and initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in a related field.
Proven experience in fundraising, development, or related roles, preferably in higher education or athletics’ setting.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Familiarity with fundraising software and data management systems.
Commitment to the mission and values of the college and its athletic program.
Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a criminal background check as mandated by Tennessee State University.
