High school diploma or equivalency and four years of progressive experience in a broadcast television, radio and emerging media environment, of which one year is supervisory; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

The athletic program at Appalachian State University operates on the premise that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the institution’s overall program of education. Priority is given to high standards of both academic and athletic quality — the goal being the complete development of the student-athlete.

Reporting to the Senior Associate AD for Strategic Communications with shared oversight by the Football GM, this position will be responsible for the shooting, producing and editing of highly creative videos that highlight the App State football program and its student-athletes, engage recruits and fans, and tell the story of App State Football to a variety of audiences.

• Support App State Football efforts to build brand affinity for Mountaineer Football, to increase and enhance the strategic initiatives established by the external units.
• Shoot, produce, and edit highly creative videos for the App State football program, at the direction of the Football Recruiting GM, Associate AD for Football Operations, Senior Associate AD for Strategic Communications, football coaches, and staff.
• Create videos for sending directly to prospective student-athletes.
• Create videos that highlight App State football’s tradition, culture, setting, fans, facilities, student-athletes, uniforms, game day atmosphere, etc.
• Create videos for publication on at least the following platforms: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube.
• Oversee the creation of motion and still graphics and photography for use on social platforms and recruiting.
• Oversee the football graphic designer and manage the football student video creative assistants.
• Shoot practices, home games, and away games.
• Assist with on-campus recruiting events.
• Maintain a creative calendar to assist with production timelines and scheduling.
• Member of the App State Football Content Team that strategizes and executes creative content for the program.
• Work closely with the Marketing, Strategic Communications, Sports Productions, and associated external units on creative concepts and strategies.
• Adhere to guidance from the Senior Associate AD for Strategic Communications, Director of Sports Productions, and Director of Creative Services on appropriate use and enhancement of the App State visual brand.
• Other duties as assigned.
