The Director of Football Rehabilitation reports to the Head Football Athletic Trainer with primary responsibility to Football. This position is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injury and illness, as well as counseling and education related to athletic injuries and illnesses within the University of Washington’s comprehensive Health and Wellness program.
In collaboration with Head Football Athletic Trainer and Team Physician, will focus on overseeing the development and implementation of rehabilitation protocols, modify practices and workouts for health and safety reasons as deemed appropriate, and implement the management and return to play of any ill or injured football student-athlete, work collaboratively with the team physicians and other allied health care professionals. Work with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of individualized programming. Evaluate and recommend new techniques and equipment that would benefit and improve the athletic training program.
Ensure accurate and thorough record keeping and documentation. Assist with other athletic training and administrative duties as assigned. Adhere to and carry out established policies and procedures.
Serve as clinical preceptor and assess clinical proficiencies of graduate athletic training and physical therapy students.
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, NCAA, B1G Conference, State of Washington, and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Advanced degree in physical therapy, athletic training or other sports medicine area of study and 3-5 years of post-professional experience.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.
Must have NATABOC certification with current CPR and First Aid/AED certifications and must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Washington as an athletic trainer & physical therapist.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Dry Needling Certification, Sports Certified Specialist (SCS).
Successful candidates should be proficient in evidence-based medicine, medical documentation, emergency care, sport specific rehabilitation and injury prevention programs; have a demonstrated ability to relate to both men's and women's athletic injuries and health related issues; have a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with other intercollegiate athletic staff, coaches, and the local medical community; must have excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work independently.
