Anderson University is an innovative and entrepreneurial comprehensive, liberal arts university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Candidates with a strong Christian value system, lifestyle, and commitment to the integration of faith and learning are encouraged to apply for this position, scheduled for a June 2024 start date.
Reporting to the Vice President for Christian Life, the Director of Men’s and Athletic Ministries is responsible for developing and overseeing dynamic Men’s and Athletic Ministries. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the Director of Campus Ministries, Director of Women’s Ministry and Community Missions, and the Assistant Director of Campus Ministries in supporting evangelism, discipleship, and mentoring efforts for AU Campus Ministries with a special emphasis on male students and male/female student-athletes in the Traditional Undergraduate program; coordinating monthly strategic men’s Bible studies, social gatherings, and service opportunities that reach men who are involved in Campus Ministries as well as those who are not involved; attending games/practices in order to be an active spiritual presence in the lives of student-athletes; serving as AU staff liaison to the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athletes in Action; and encouraging participation of all students in opportunities sponsored by Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM), Women’s Ministry, Community Missions, and/or Anderson University’s Campus Ministry Partners. This position also provides pastoral care and crisis ministry in coordination with the Christian Life staff and Student Development.
Qualified candidates should possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and previous experience in ministry, preferably to college students and student-athletes. A mature and contagious Christian faith along with a strong commitment to quality relationships, sincerity, excellence, and Christ-like service is essential, along with the ability to work with a diverse student population and a commitment to the academic and Christ-focused mission of Anderson University. Master’s degree preferred. At least some concentration in ministry preparation is helpful.
