The Director of Men's Basketball Operations directs the daily operations process for the Men's Basketball program. This position is also involved in the organizational structure of advanced recruiting. Due to the very confidential nature of student-athlete recruiting, the incumbent is in a highly sensitive position and must be able to maintain trust of the entire coaching staff. The incumbent is exposed daily to information of a highly confidential nature and must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism. In conjunction, the incumbent must be aware of NCAA and SEC rules and regulations.
85% Directs the daily operational and logistical processes for the Men’s Basketball Program; Game scheduling and planning the non-conference schedule in future years is critical; Serves as a coordinator of facilities liaison for the program; Works closely with the head coach on team travel (itineraries, logistics, practice/shoot around scheduling, meals, etc.); Point of contact for opposing teams when scheduling practice and shoot around times; Involved in staff scouting schedule and advanced scouting of opponents; Coordinates special events with the Head Coach (senior night, alumni events, etc.); Creates and updates recruiting lists at the direction of the coaching staff; Coordinates updates to the recruiting database; Monitors the number of contacts and evaluations conducted by the coaching staff and works with Athletics Compliance Services to ensure records are consistent; Coordinates securing, evaluating and filing of transcripts for selected prospects in collaboration with Compliance Services Staff; Supervises planning and coordinating of official and unofficial visits to campus (itineraries, travel, hotel, hosts, meals, name tags, seating charts, compliance paperwork, complimentary tickets, etc.); Coordinates completion and submission of required paperwork and expense reports; Monitors and works collaboratively with the staff to keep them updated on changes in the rules (University, SEC, and NCAA).
10% % Coordinates with the travel department on the road recruiting of the coaches; Supervises when coaches and/or prospects are traveling to campus; Serves as a liaison between all departments on recruiting matters (compliance, student services, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, travel, business, facilities, housing, parking, tickets, etc.).
5% Advances and supports LSU and Athletics Department initiatives through personal participation in educational and developmental opportunities, as well as participation in the creation of a respectful culture consistent with the values of LSU and its Athletics Department; Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with three years experience in a collegiate basketball program as a student-athlete, coach or administrator; Knowledge and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
