Position Details:
The Opportunity: Washington State University Athletics is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) Services. This role leads all NIL-related initiatives, providing direct support and guidance to student-athletes while collaborating with internal departments and external partners to maximize NIL opportunities. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Athletics, the Director will ensure WSU remains at the forefront of NIL innovation, education, and compliance in collegiate athletics.
Summary of Duties: As the Director of Name, Image & Likeness (NIL) Services, you will serve as the strategic leader and primary manager of the NIL Unit for Washington State University (WSU) Athletics. You will be responsible for the comprehensive oversight, management, and advancement of all NIL-related initiatives across the department. As the Director, you will engage, support and advise student-athletes as it pertains to NIL and meeting with student-athletes and advising them on matters pertaining to NIL will be a large part of the day to day operations in the NIL Unit. You will also lead the NIL Unit in developing and executing a forward-thinking vision that supports WSU student-athletes in maximizing NIL opportunities while ensuring compliance with NCAA, Pac-12, and institutional regulations.
As the leader of the NIL Unit, you will manage and coordinate cross-functional efforts by collaborating with key internal departments including compliance, development, Multi-Media Rights (MMR)/corporate sponsorship, marketing, communications, and student-athlete development. As the Director, you will play a central role in aligning NIL strategy with departmental goals and integrating NIL education and resources into the overall student-athlete experience.
You will also serve as the primary liaison to all external NIL stakeholders, including the Cougar Collective, donors, corporate sponsors, third-party marketplaces, and other external NIL service providers. As the Director, you will be responsible for cultivating and managing these relationships to enhance NIL opportunities and visibility for WSU student-athletes.
Reporting directly to the Deputy Director of Athletics, you will provide creative, innovative, and proactive leadership in a rapidly evolving NIL landscape, ensuring WSU remains a leader in NIL engagement and support within collegiate athletics.
Additional Information:
This is a full time (100 % FTE), permanent position. This position is overtime-eligible.
Monthly Salary: $4,166.67 - $5,000 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications
In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of professional work experience in student services or related education/experience. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year‐for‐year basis.
Significant working knowledge of the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.
Flexible to various scheduling to include nights, weekend work and some holidays.
Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s or Juris Doctorate.
Experience working in Collegiate Athletics.
Experience working in NIL.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to multi-task and effectively balance multiple situations while being meticulous.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
