DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of On-Campus Recruiting is responsible for directing, leading, and overseeing multiple aspects of the recruiting process, focusing on official and unofficial visits, community relations, parent relations, high school relations, recruiting materials, and game day operations. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to create a positive and memorable experience for prospective student-athletes and community leaders. This leads recruiting efforts on-campus and is charged with providing an experience that plays a significant role in the team’s success in signing high-level recruits. This position will be expected to make independent, high-level decisions to organize and execute an effective on-campus recruiting experience.
Oversee official visits by managing all logistics, communication, and budget. This includes serving as the primary contact for prospective student-athletes (PSA) and their families. This includes but is not limited to arranging travel (and special accommodations), creating comprehensive itineraries, liaising with various departments for visit needs, designing and arranging installation of hotel decorations and accommodations, facilitating photoshoots, managing player host fund allotments, and collaborating with compliance, the business office, and the administrative leadership in the football office. This position will play a central role in the persuading prospective student-athletes to attend the University throughout their visits and beyond. 20%
Lead and manage unofficial visits by supervising pre and post gameday operations, hiring and onboarding a team of gameday interns/volunteers, conducting campus tours for prospective student-athletes, coordinating tours with high school coaches, 7-on-7 coaches, and trainers, acting as the primary contact for junior days, creating credentials for PSAs and guests, and developing detailed itineraries for the entire visit. 20%
This position will also forecast expenses and manage a multitude of costs associated with these official and unofficial visits. Responsible for the portion of the operating budget related to on-campus recruiting, which is expected to exceed $1 million in the next fiscal year as we transition to the BIG10 and expand our recruiting footprint to a larger portion of the country. Work with local hotel companies and University procurement specialists to negotiate contracts for these visits. Manage, supervise, and direct a team of part-time employees and gameday interns/volunteers to host prospects and their families and coordinate all of the visit logistics. 15%
This position will also be tasked with partnership development, while aiming to identify, build, and nurture relationships with external businesses and organizations. The objective is to enhance the football program's community presence through strategic collaborations. This will involve forming partnerships with notable entities such as Amazon, Dick’s Burgers, Microsoft, Starbucks, and various local establishments. Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating community events, which entails working closely with community leaders to ensure the seamless execution of events, fostering successful engagement, and promoting collaboration between the football program and the local community. 15%
With a focus on parent relations, this position will play a crucial role in maintaining open and effective communication between the football program and the parents of prospective student-athletes (PSA). This requires strong interpersonal skills, organizational proficiency, and a genuine commitment to fostering positive relationships with parents. The position will also serve as a key liaison throughout the careers of our student-athletes once they are on campus, ensuring that parents are well-informed and engaged. This includes regular correspondence and occasional meetings with player parents throughout the calendar year in regards to key events like spring ball, the season, team travel, bowl logistics, and the like. 10%
In the role of high school relations, this position will act as a liaison between high school coaches and the recruiting program, creating a strategy for allocating tickets for high school prospects and coaches at home games, serving as the main point of contact for those attending practices, and designing, developing, and distributing information about gamedays and open practices. 10%
Responsible for design and strategy for recruiting direct mail assets, facilitating distribution through various mailing services, consistently sending out weekly graphics to the recruits, providing schedules for coaches for weekly handwritten letters, creating good luck graphics during the season, sending out weekly digital graphics, maintaining regular communication with parents, and ensuring that recruits are contacted at least once a week. 10%
Compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Conference, the State of Washington and any other governing body is of paramount importance to the University. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee shall be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree AND 5 years of experience with football/operations at a collegiate or professional level OR equivalent education/experience. Proven experience in community relations, preferably in collegiate athletics.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of NCAA rules and/or work in a Division I-A athletic department and computer experience with database and basic Microsoft Office programs required.
Must be organized, team-oriented, self-motivated, and a hard worker with excellent communication skills.
Willingness and ability to work some evenings and weekends are required.
Must have experience in dealing with confidential and sensitive information.
