Position Summary:
The Director of the Baseline Tennis Center oversees all aspects of operations and events. Plan and implement all Gopher Women’s Tennis workouts, practices and competitive matches. Maintain a wide array of tennis programming including University partners (PE/Kinesiology classes, Intramurals, RecWell Club), USTA, WTA, ITF and a variety of other users.  Seek additional value added programming such as area schools and universities to host practices and matches.  Oversight and management of the existing third party Lessons program (This position does not teach lessons). The Director is responsible for managing the operating budget for the facility, forecasting, and tracking revenue goals and providing proper financial oversight of all business operations. Facility management of the building with regards to daily custodial oversight, routine maintenance of buildings system, court care along with planning and executing timely facility maintenance such as court resurfacing, and other facility improvements. Â

Essential FunctionsÂ
30%- Facilities Operations
a. Identify and coordinate facility improvements/repairs/maintenance, including a 5-yearÂ
           facility/equipment renewal plan. Â
b. Submit work orders for facility repairs/improvements to improve the overall operation Â
           and physical structure of the tennis complex.
c.       Have a basic understanding of tennis related equipment -ball machines, stringingÂ
           machines, court surfaces, netting systems,Â
d. Coordinate the daily maintenance and oversight of custodial tasks of the facility.
e. Assign event set up/tear down/clean up duties to employees, ensuring the smooth operation of events from start to finish.
f. Work cooperatively and coordinate efforts with other facility tenants as well as other areas within the athletic departments.
g. Operate, and monitor, building control systems for PA, AV, and scoreboards.
h.         Other duties as assigned.
20%- Programming Management
a. Work closely with coaching staff to plan and implement Gopher Team practices and competition schedules. Serve as on-site event manager for home Gopher Tennis competitions.
b. Marketing of the tennis facility to the tennis community, bringing non-University events to the facility to maximize revenue opportunities while maintaining a broad range ofÂ
           diverse tennis offerings.Â
c. Coordinate the implementation of tennis lessons, source/hire outside contractors to provide a tennis lesson program. Follow all University purchasing and contracting procedures.Â
d. Work cooperatively with and coordinate efforts with all user groups: Intercollegiate Athletics, the School of Kinesiology classes, recreational wellness programs, USTA and
            diverse groups and wide-ranging activities in the tennis community.
20%- Personnel
1. Supervision of one full time employee.
a. Assign duties, tasks, and work schedules of FT Staff while sharing nights and weekend coverage of tournaments and events.
b. Oversee the hiring, training, supervising employees while meeting the mission of the Baseline Tennis Center.
c. Conduct performance evaluations of all employees while providing meaningful goals and coaching to staff.
2. Oversee the supervision of part time staff (Student Employees).
a. Coordinate and assist in the hiring, training, and supervision of diverse part-time employees.
b. Oversight of duties, tasks, and work schedules including nights and weekend coverage.
c. Develop, distribute, and update employee policy and procedure manuals.
d. Conduct performance evaluations with regular feedback to goals and performance.
20% Budget Oversight
a. Prepare and implement the operating budget.
b. Maximize revenues in the tennis center and manage expenses on a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly basis within University policies and procedures.Â
c. Complete Facility Use Agreements and invoicing as required
d. Develop and implement the fee structure for the complex and evolve as the market requires.
10%- Merchandise and Equipment
a. Coordinate/delegate the ordering of equipment, supplies to operate the facility. Management and ordering of merchandise for resale at the Tennis Center.
b. Develop inventory control measures for supplies and equipment while properly separating duties with staff.
c. Operate general office equipment including computers for word processing, spreadsheets, and court scheduling software.
d. Tennis equipment oversight and coordination of repairs of facility equipment. Solicit
           and build relationships with tennis specific vendors for racquet and other tennis
           equipment repairs.
e. Ordering and disposal of equipment following University procedures.
Nonessential FunctionsÂ
Supervision:
1 Fulltime staff supervision.  Will assist with, train, and oversee 40 hour per week intern. Also, will coordinate the recruiting, training, scheduling, and supervision of up to 15 part-time student employees. Training students and maintaining a tracking system for each employee is critical to operational successÂ

 Annual salary ranges from $63,000-$67,000.

Required Qualification:
BA/BS degree and 6 years’ experience in Facility Operations that includes planning, assignment, and supervision of employees. Ability to work nights and weekends as scheduled with large or complex events.
Preferred:Â 3 years of Tennis Facility Operations experience preferred.
