JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State University is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Performance Science – Football, to lead and develop novel and innovative training and monitoring methodologies that will serve to make the Penn State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics world class in its approach to student-athlete wellness, injury prevention, recovery, physical preparation and performance. This position will report to the Assistant AD for Athletic Performance – Football.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the strategic leadership, and
• Coordinate research efforts, and lead initiatives in collaboration with university and industry partners including faculty and students for the development of innovative approaches to the improvement of student-athlete health and performance.
• Manage budget needs for all health and performance initiatives including but not limited to the implementation of hardware and software technology, recruitment of staff and general program sustainability.
• Direct the supervision of interns and maintain an effective working relationship with all associates, stake holders, coaches and practitioners.
• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant AD for Athletic Performance – Football.

Education & Experience:

• Master’s Degree in Sports Science, Kinesiology or other related academic disciplines required.
• 8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of supervisory experience.
• Additional years of experience with high performing athletes also preferred.
• Additional years leading an integrated performance science program preferred.
• Must be familiar with cutting edge technology and systems (e.g., Smartabase) in sports.
• This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required.

This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. $109,300.00 - $164,000.00
