| | Essential Duties and Responsibilities |
The athletic program at Appalachian State University operates on the premise that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the institution’s overall program of education. Priority is given to high standards of both academic and athletic quality — the goal being the complete development of the student-athlete.

This role coordinates all insurance and business operations of the App State Athletics and Sports Medicine department, including but not limited to, primary student athlete insurance, App State basic accidental insurance and excess plans, sports medicine compliance, and providing operational support for the Director of Athletics, Senior Associate Athletic Director of Health, Well-being, and Performance and Director of Athletic Training Services.

• Administrator/coordinator of medical insurance management for student-athletes to include primary insurance and secondary insurance regulations with the Appalachian State University Sports Medicine Medical Policy(s).
• Assists with day-to-day operations including, but not limited to, maintaining an accurate inventory through the inventory management system, TRAC, maintains maintenance and sanitation logs, schedules testing (MRI/CT/Blood work/ etc.)
• Provides operational support for the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Health, Well-being, and Performance including but not limited to, coordinating/scheduling student-athlete appointments, processing dictations/office notes, coordinating appropriate post-examination duties, and assisting with NCAA sports medicine compliance.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of and adheres to all applicable University, Sun Belt Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.
• Maintains a thorough knowledge of medical insurance and continues education on changes and adaptions to policy.
• Able to negotiate write-offs, discounts, and adjustments for all medical insurance needs.
• Able to negotiate the best possible pricing for medical services.
• Assists with communication as needed between campus Emergency Management and the Senior Associate Athletic Director of Health, Well-being, and Performance.
• Assist with large-scale Athletic Events and Operations as needed.
• Provides sports medicine-related support as appropriate to App State Athletics.
• Serve as Sports Medicine facility operations coordinator, including but not limited to, maintenance of sports medicine equipment and facilities, pools, etc.
• Provide business analytics for expenses and processes of the sports medicine department.
• Assists with other duties/projects as assigned/directed by supporting student-athlete health and well-being.
