The Director of Sports Nutrition brings a strong understanding of sports nutrition principles with a proven ability to translate that into best-in-class support to enhance student-athlete health and performance in a high performance academic and sport environment. The role requires frequent interaction with student-athletes, sport coaches,
IST
staff, campus and industry colleagues, and sport administrators, and will accomplish the position purpose through education, counseling, and administration.
Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) is an innovative program that unites an interdisciplinary team of experts to support the holistic health, wellbeing, and development of all varsity student-athletes in their pursuit of comprehensive excellence. As an essential member of the DP2 team, this position will provide leadership in one of DP2’s eight service areas, along with sports medicine, strength and conditioning, sport science, sport and counseling psychology, leadership and mental performance, academic support, and career development. The DP2 team works collaboratively across these service areas to help student athletes maximize their potential as students, athletes, and people during their Dartmouth careers.
Bachelors or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or health related field.
Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (
CDR
).
Licensed Dietitian in the state of New Hampshire within 30 days of hire.
Minimum three (3) years of experience delivering sports nutrition services, preferability in a high performance collegiate, professional, Olympic, or tactical environment.
Thorough knowledge of nutritional principles as they relate to athletic performance.
Knowledge of clinical nutrition and best practices in care for disordered eating.
Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to a range of stakeholders and a diverse population.
Ability to coordinate and manage employees, student workers and volunteers.
Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a larger nutrition and integrated support team (
IST
).
Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once.
Ability to work a non-standard work week which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Five years of experience as a sports RD.
Previous experience leading or directing an
NCAA
nutrition program.
Masters degree in nutrition, exercise science or related field.
Board certified specialist in Sports Dietetics (
CSSD
).
