Job Details

The Director of Strength and Conditioning is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strength, conditioning, and injury prevention programs for all varsity athletic teams. This position plays a critical role in enhancing athletic performance, reducing injury risk, and promoting overall health and wellness. In addition to coaching responsibilities, the role will include duties that align with the candidate’s strengths, experiences, and professional goals. These responsibilities may include administrative support within the athletic department or coordinating fitness and wellness programming for the broader campus community. Those with a background in athletics administration may contribute to areas such as event management, compliance, or student-athlete development. Candidates with expertise in fitness and wellness will have the opportunity to develop initiatives that engage students, faculty, and staff in health and fitness activities beyond varsity athletics

Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of the strength and conditioning program, including planning practices, game strategies, and player development.
  • Foster a team culture that prioritizes sportsmanship, inclusivity, and the holistic development of student-athletes.
  • Oversee injury prevention strategies in collaboration with athletic trainers and coaching staff.
  • Manage and maintain weight room facilities, ensuring safety and proper use of equipment.
  • Provide leadership and education on proper training techniques, recovery, and nutrition.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Serve as a mentor and advocate for student-athletes, supporting their academic, personal, and career goals.
  • Uphold the institution’s mission and values while striving to achieve competitive success.
