Position: Director of Strength and Conditioning/Head Strength and Conditioning Coach - Football

Department: Athletics

Position Summary:

The Head Sports Performance Coach - Football, supervises the Assistant Sports Performance Coach - Football and one graduate assistant. The Head Sports Performance Coach – Football is responsible for overseeing the physical preparation of the Campbell University Football Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for supervision of assistant sports performance coach-FB and a graduate assistant.
• Provide expert instruction in the use of all free weights, machines and conditioning equipment tailored to football.
• Responsible for maintaining an accurate, up-to-date budget, in addition to, staying within the allocated budget for the football strength and conditioning department.
• Provide education on all strength training protocols, energy system development protocols, and recovery modalities (including resources on nutrition and supplements) for student- athletes and sport coaches.
• Responsible for all aspects of speed, strength and conditioning for the Football program.
• Responsible for the supervision of all sports performance facility equipment, the Burt Sports Performance Center, and adhering to all safety policies and procedures for each facility.
• Responsible for collaborating with the Athletic Training Staff to assist with rehabilitation programs and return-to-play protocols for injured athletes.
• Maintain up-to-date certification(s) through accredited Strength & Conditioning association(s) (National Strength and Conditioning Association or Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association).
• Assist with community service projects and student athlete mentoring.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
• Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, and Information Security, including HIPAA, FERPA and other state and federal guidelines.
• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Education/Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science or a related field required; Master’s Degree desired.
• At least (5) years of experience in strength training at the collegiate level or above.
• Certification, including those offered by the National Strength and Conditioning Associate or the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be familiar with NCAA rules and regulations.
• Have a working knowledge of common medical terminology.
• Know how to operate a wide variety of fitness and strength equipment.
• Communicate effectively to all groups through both oral and written channels.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and attention to detail are essential.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and common methods of digital communications including Teamworks. Demonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with students, athletes, trainers, coaches, officials, outside service providers and vendors, university faculty/staff/ administration, and the public.
• Work independently as well as function effectively in a team and within a diverse group of people.
• Exercise independent judgment in complex and new situations.
• Manage multiple, concurrent projects, and meet strict deadlines.
• Detail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environment.
• Availability to work evening, weekend and holiday break hours, and travel, including overnight stays is required.
