Position Overview

The Director of Track & Field / Cross Country is responsible for all facets of conducting a successful men’s and women’s track and field and cross-country program. The position reports directly to the Director of Athletics with additional reporting lines to the Senior Associate Athletic Director and Sport Liaison. This position must be in compliance with all

NCAA

, conference, and university rules and regulations and must display professional integrity.

Duties include:

Ensure academic performance and personal development of student-athletes

On the field coaching during practice and competition

Recruit top-quality student-athletes

Meet preparation

Schedule meets/contests and travel arrangements

Administration of operating budget

Supervise assistants

Fund raising

Promotional and public relations activities (including speaking engagements and media interviews)

Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics

Position Qualifications

| Required Experience |
- Intercollegiate track coaching experience - Establishing working relationships with athletes, department members, administrators, university faculty and staff, professional colleagues, and/or the general public - Public relations experience - Academic and athletic preparation of student-athletes | | Required Education |
- Bachelor’s Degree

Must be able to:

• Travel
• Work nonstandard hours, including occasional weekends, as required | | Additional Preferred |
  
• Master’s degree
• Intercollegiate competitive experience as a track and field athlete
• Successful head or assistant coaching experience within NCAA Division 1
