DIRECTOR / PLAYER DEVELOPMENT / MENS BASKETBALL
The Player Development Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and oversight of individualized and position-specific development programs for student-athletes within the men’s basketball program. This role supports the overall athletic and personal growth of players through targeted skill training, performance analysis, and mentorship. The Director collaborates closely with the head coach and assistant coaches to ensure that player development aligns with team goals and competitive strategies, while maintaining compliance with NCAA and institutional policies.
Bachelor’s degree.
Three years of experience with skill development, basketball operations, or coaching at the college or professional level.
Demonstrated success in player development.
Deep knowledge of basketball strategy, individual skill work, and player evaluation.
Proficient in film software (e.g., Synergy, SportsCode), analytics tools, and video editing platforms.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor student-athletes.
Commitment to NCAA rules and institutional policies governing intercollegiate athletics.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, and travel with the team.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Master’s Degree.
Collegiate or professional playing experience.
Develops and executes individualized player development plans.
Provides detailed film breakdowns and one-on-one film sessions with players to reinforce teaching points and development goals.
Collaborates with the coaching staff to align development plans with team strategies and systems of play.
Tracks and evaluates player progress through performance metrics, video, and observational analysis.
Integrates sports science, recovery strategies, and load management in conjunction with athletic performance staff.
Fosters strong relationships with student-athletes to support their growth athletically, academically, and personally.
Stays current with the latest player development methodologies, drills, and NCAA compliance standards.
Assists with on and off campus recruiting of student athletes.
Prepares and works on external and internal scouting reports.
Works closely with and coordinates with volunteers and managers.
Performs other duties as assigned by the head coach.
