Summary
The Director of Sports Medicine, Football works in collaboration with and under the direction of the Assistant AD/Head Football Athletic Trainer in the care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and related problems in cadet-athletes. In the absence of the Assistant AD/Head Football Athletic Trainer, will assume primary responsibility and oversight of other staff in the sport of football.
Scope of Impact
Assume responsibility for coordinating and delivering athletic training services to the football team. Conducts thorough and accurate record keeping. Undertakes administrative tasks and special projects at the discretion of the Assistant AD/Head Football Athletic Trainer. Oversees athletic training interns assigned to the sport of football. Perform duties consistent with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, Board of Certification, and New York State Board of Education standards.
Level of Decision Making
Employee will adhere to NCAA, Patriot League, USMA, and Army West Point Athletic Department rules and regulations. They will follow team physician standing orders in the execution of duties. Employee will have discretional decision-making in the day-to-day management of cadet athletes and their healthcare. They will retain the ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decisions in conjunction with team physicians. In the absence of the Assistant AD/Head Football Athletic Trainer, will assume primary responsibility and oversight of other staff in the sport of football.

10% As needed instructions

Supervisory Responsibilities
In coordination with the head football athletic trainer, provides direction, guidance, and mentorship to junior members of the football athletic training room staff. Will provide feedback to the head football athletic trainer regarding the football athletic training room staff's performance. Will supervise athletic training students and cadet managers/trainers assigned to football.
Work Conditions & Physical Requirements
Perform duties in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment.
Travel
Travel as necessary with the football team to away contests and to complete necessary licensure continuing education. Up to 20% of the time may be committed to travel.

Pay Range
$80,000 - $85,000
