The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. The department has approximately 280 academic & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.
The Electrical/Control System Technician position's primary responsibilities are to maintain pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical control and distribution systems in Athletic Department facilities while also assisting in the planning, design, and installation of such systems when appropriate or necessary. Position responsibilities include skills/knowledge/abilities in electrical maintenance, diagnoses, and repair; troubleshooting and repair of HVAC equipment, inventory control, and record-keeping plus staff and event support for activities occurring in Athletic Department facilities.
Special Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain UO driver’s certification within 90 days of employment and maintain throughout employment with the Athletic Department.
• Certification for confined space within three months of employment.
Two years of journey-level experience planning, designing, installing, and maintaining building pneumatic electronic, and electrical control and distribution systems and possession of one of the following Oregon Electrician's Licenses appropriate to the work to be performed:
• General Supervising Electrician License
• General Journeyman Electrician License
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers, supervisors, and outside contractors and businesses.
• Ability to remain current with new electrical technologies, methods, and applications.
• Awareness of the Hazardous Communication Program and asbestos handling procedures.
• Knowledge of voltage systems, both AC & DC.
• Knowledge of DDC controls.
• Four years of journey-level experience planning, designing, installing, and maintaining building pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical control and distribution systems
• Experience with and subject matter expert for LED lighting controls, and Metal Halide lighting.
• Experience with and ability to safely repair Uninterruptible power supplies and battery supplies.
• Experience with and ability to maintain electrical distribution preventive maintenance (PM) program which includes all electrical systems and components, the 12kv, 480/277V, and 208/120V distribution systems, feeders, breakers, relays, building dry transformers, and other electrical systems and components.
