• This position will develop and ensure the success of Ferris' Competitive esports program and is in charge of recruiting student-players, managing the budget, overseeing the general operations, coaching, and building the program identity.
• Duties include; supervising student staff and student-players, overseeing the daily operations of the esports arena, coordinating broadcast productions of esports competitions, and coordinating esports events hosted by Ferris State University.
• The preferred candidate will be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Travel for team tournaments and recruiting will be required.
• The anticipated start date for this position is March 2025. However, this is an estimated date and can be revised if needed.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
• At least three-years full-time work experience managing competitive esports teams / leagues.
• Experience working in both collegiate and professional esports.
• Experience as both a competitive esports player and coach.

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered:
• Develop, oversee, and manage Ferris esports teams.
• Help build team and individual skills to prepare student-athletes and the teams for success.
• Recruit and retain students for the esports program.
• Initiate and run practice, competition, and team-building activities.
• Coordinate off-season activity, practice schedules, and competition schedules.
• Organize team travel when required.
• Operates university motorized vehicles in a safe manner while performing job duties.
• Monitor and mentor the academic and mental well-being of players.
• Oversee daily operations of the esports arena.
• Oversee inventory, storage, budget, and maintenance of esports equipment.
• Partner with campus partners to ensure facility maintenance occurs when needed.
• Report safety issues to appropriate personnel and recommend improvements.
• Coordinate livestream broadcast productions of esports competitions.
• Plan, organize, and implement esports club programming.
• Coordinate and support small- and large-scale tournaments physically and virtually in the arena.
• Conduct camps, clinics, and promotional events to help market the program to potential students and donors.
• Select, train, and supervise student work staff that include; managing student employee performance, career development, and adherence to job standards.
• Demonstrates an understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially in working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
• Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives.
• Collaborate with the Department of Athletics to ensure eligibility compliance for GLIAC-hosted esports competitions.
• Implement program policies and procedures.
• Maintain files and records and prepare reports as necessary.
• Review agreements, contract deadlines, rules, and compliance within any associated league, conference, and affiliates.
• Oversee and manage the program budget.
• Provide guidance and input on games selected for competition.
• Offer regular feedback on equipment upgrades, updates, and maintenance.
• Any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
• Expert knowledge of multiple games, including some combination of; League of Legends, Rocket League, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Valorant, or other popular esports game titles.
• Demonstrated commitment, experience, and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Coaching or teaching experience preferred.
• Experience recruiting high school or college students preferred.
• Ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, administrators, and professional colleagues.
• Demonstrated initiative and creativity.
• Strong relationship-building skills.
• Proficient written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to travel.
