Organization's Summary Statement: The Executive Director of the M Club is responsible for the organization's day-to-day operations, serving as an ex officio, non-voting member of the Board and coordinating closely with the Director of Athletics. Director/Chief Development Officer or other identified development officers for purposes of maximizing the engagement of alumni athletes through M Club, managing communications, and providing support to committees. Financial responsibilities include managing the M Club’s funds, maintaining accurate records, ensuring audits are conducted, and reporting on the club’s financial status. The Executive Director will also implement the operating agreement with Maryland Athletics and oversee investment activities as approved by the Board. Final hiring, retention, and compensation decisions rest with the Director of Athletics, though the M Club Executive Committee may provide input.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Solicit for M Club memberships or other UMD-related philanthropic priorities.
Lead a comprehensive strategy for alumni athlete engagement operation.
Develop and execute the membership drive of the M Club.
Serve as the primary staff person assigned to the M Club Board.
May manage a team of professional and support staff.
Assign additional responsibilities as needed.
Physical Demands: The position requires prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, along with the ability to operate standard office equipment with manual dexterity. The role involves occasional standing or walking to attend meetings or conduct orientations and may require lifting light office materials (up to 20 pounds). Visual acuity and effective verbal and auditory communication are essential for reviewing financial data and interacting with employees in person, by phone, or virtually.

Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in athletics, administration, operations, alumni relations, or nonprofit management.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of nonprofit or alumni association governance structures, including how to work with boards and committees.
Knowledge of budgeting, accounting principles, and financial reporting, including experience with audits and compliance with IRS regulations.
Knowledge of athletics at UMCP.
Skill in problem solving and strategic planning.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Ability to assemble, organize, and direct volunteer members of the organization.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
Ability to interact with donors, administrators, and senior-level executives.
Ability to multi-task and adhere to deadlines.
Ability to be the primary interface between the M Club Board and the Department of Intercollegiate.
Ability to represent the decisions of the M Club Board throughout the UMCP and University System.
Preferences: Develop and maintain relationships with alumni athletes.
