Summary:
The Executive Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development & NIL Strategy is an advisor and liaison to the Vice President and Director of Athletics and the Vice President of Institutional Advancement (IA); and serves as a senior leader within Temple University Athletics. This position is responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive fundraising and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) engagement strategy. The incumbent will have a record of success in higher education fundraising and leadership responsibilities and achievements in the administration of Division I intercollegiate athletics or equivalent experience with a sports organization or entity. The Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director will work closely with the Vice President of IA & the Director of Athletics to build a strong, positive athletics program and encourage support for the University among a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including alumni, letter winners, donors, students, faculty, coaches, staff, business leaders, community leaders, and other supporters of Temple University.

The incumbent will have a record of success in higher education fundraising and leadership responsibilities and achievements in the administration of Division I intercollegiate athletics or equivalent experience with a sports organization or entity. The Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director will work closely with the Vice President of IA & the Director of Athletics to build a strong, positive athletics program and encourage support for the University among a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including alumni, letter winners, donors, students, faculty, coaches, staff, business leaders, community leaders, and other supporters of Temple University.
This individual will oversee the Owl Club’s traditional fundraising operations while leading efforts to integrate NIL opportunities that support student-athletes through partnerships with organizations like Elevate the Owls, Owl NIL, and Temple Owl Exchange.
Reporting to the Vice President IA and the Athletic Director, and working closely with University Advancement, this leader will cultivate and steward major gift prospects, manage a personal portfolio, and design strategic initiatives that grow overall support for Temple Athletics while ensuring alignment with NCAA regulations and institutional priorities. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
*Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
*Minimum of 8 years of experience in fundraising, development, or external relations, preferably within a higher education or athletics setting.
*Demonstrated success in securing major gifts ($25,000+) and managing donor relationships.
*Knowledge of NCAA compliance and best practices in athletic development and NIL initiatives.
*An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
*Ability to manage, motivate, and mentor professional staff.
*Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
*Exceptional communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
Preferred:
*Experience with NIL strategy, collectives, or athlete-related donor engagement strongly preferred.
*Familiarity with Temple University, Philadelphia’s philanthropic community, or the American Athletic Conference.
*Experience leading capital campaigns or multi-channel fundraising initiatives.
*Proven success in integrating new fundraising models such as NIL, crowdfunding, or digital donor engagement.
This position requires a pre-employment background check.
