We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Financial Data Analyst to help drive financial accuracy, data-driven decisions, and impactful budget insights and actionable items. This role will play a critical part in supporting Sun Devil Athletics (SDA) by delivering timely, accurate, and comprehensive financial reporting across a wide range of areas to meet the dynamic needs of senior leadership.
The ideal candidate will have a talent for reviewing data across multiple platforms, generating insightful reports, and offering recommendations to leadership. The ability to respond quickly to urgent requests for financial insights is essential, especially in areas such as revenue and spend tracking for corporate partnerships, ticketing, licensing, student support, NCAA compliance, facilities and equipment, fundraising, and marketing.

Essential Duties:
Data Analytics:
Collaborate with teams across SDA to explore in-depth analytics questions that will drive critical decision-making.
Deliver regular and ad-hoc reporting and analytical support on requests related to scholarships and other student support, operations and payroll spend, revenue, ticketing, corporate partnerships, NCAA compliance, facilities, fundraising, and marketing, and other financial data as needed.
Respond quickly to urgent requests from senior leadership with clear insights and visualizations to guide decisions.
Impact Assessment:
Conduct in-depth analysis to measure and report on SDA’s impact, such as long-term success for internal and external stakeholders.
Partner with departments across ASU to enhance SDA’s data with data from other sources.
Data-Driven Deliverables:
Champion data-driven decision-making by making data understandable and accessible, while retaining nuance.
Assist with data literacy efforts within SDA through seminars, one-on-one consultations, trainings, and newsletters on data-related tools and procedures.
Represent SDA Business Operations across ASU by regularly showcasing insights at various university events.
Additional Responsibilities
Desired Qualifications:
Experience in using enterprise financial system (Workday)
Experience with GoogleDrive, GoogleSheets, Concur.
Experience in athletic compliance software (ARMS, Teamworks).
Experience defining and implementing new quantitative and qualitative measures for outcomes and impact
Comfortable with data cleaning and complex data analysis
Significant experience communicating the meaning of data visually, clearly, and concisely to a wide variety of audiences
Independent problem solver capable of working individually and in team environments
Consistently meet deadlines, demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and reporting.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Exhibits high integrity, strong work ethic, and reliability.
Ability to pivot quickly and manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
In-depth knowledge of Higher Education, Athletics, NCAA, GAAP, and inter-departmental policies and procedures.
Familiarity with an athletic environment, strongly desired.
Working Environment:
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
